What is functional medicine?

Functional Medicine looks at the root cause of a chronic disease as opposed to only treating the symptoms someone is experiencing. It also recognizes that the patient's chosen environment may be a central piece to the puzzle in figuring out why they are struggling with their health. That environment can include their nutrition, exercise, stress, relaxation, and exposure to toxins. 

Functional medicine is very personalized and you are involved in each step toward your recovery. Those who have participated in functional medicine, myself included, believe that many chronic diseases are preventable and even reversible. To do that  one should adhere to their individualized plan addressing points such as diet, stress, exercise, genetics, and psychospiritual needs with their functional medicine team. 

Can a functional medicine health coach help me?

Yes! Functional medicine health coaching is client-centered, meaning we focus on your needs and goals before anything else. Often people experience a gap between what they know they need to do to be healthy and actually doing it. You're not alone! Many people struggle with making significant changes to their diet and lifestyle.

I can help you manage chronic conditions, lose weight (and keep it off!), increase movement, and generally improve your physical and mental health. I will help you decide where to begin and we will outline specific goals around points like nutrition, hydration, relaxation, sleep, detox, and exercise. I do not diagnose, make recommendations, or write prescriptions. I will provide education on any confusing material, help you prioritize your goals, work together to set up a plan of action and encourage your pursuit of a healthier life.
